Our identities, backgrounds, and life experiences are different. Yet, today we gather together to say:
“Baltimore, we see you. We see your pain and our hearts break with you. We hear your voices, and our minds reach for you. We feel your outrage, and we stand, one with our community, in solidarity.”
Today we honor the lives of unarmed Americans killed by police in the past year. As we call out each name, may we remember the oaths that we have taken to alleviate the suffering of others. By calling out these names, we say “Black.. Lives.. Matter.”
